CPR on the Radio!!

The President of CPR, Jessi Bridges, will be interviewed on 'Voice of Life' on AM 1060 Thursday, November 19. We will post the air date and time as soon as we know.

For an idea of what Jessi will be discussing on the radio, please check out her previous blog post on the purpose and goals on CPR. It asks and answers many questions about how and why the club was started and it outlines several of the goals for the future. Here is a short excerpt:

Q: What will this group do to promote life on campus?

A: We offer alternatives to abortion. As it currently stands, there is almost no choice for students who find themselves pregnant while in college. Because of a lack of resources and help in areas such as housing, financial aid, childcare and general awareness, if a student decides to keep her baby, she has little chance of staying in school. They say women have a choice, but it seems like these students don't. We are on campus to promote the choice of life; to offer the choice of life.

As a club, we feel that promoting pro-life values and awareness does not stop with rallies, news articles, posters and t-shirts. We need to step out and do something more if a change is going to be made. That something more is to be the help and the aid these students and their babies so desperately need.

I hope you enjoy the article and the radio interview!!

A Report on Cupcakes for Life

Cupcakes for Life took place nationwide on October 9, but at UNLV, it was on Wed October 14th from 12-2 pm. Our student organization passed out over 300 cupcakes, thanks to some awesome volunteers who baked all of them for us and came to help pass them out! We also handed out over 20 pregnancy tests and 50 flyers with information about Campus Pregnancy Resources.

The event was a success!! We were able to give help to those who needed it and also get our name out on the campus. Below are some pictures from the event. Enjoy!!

Next Meeting!

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 20 from 5-6 pm at the UNLV Student Union, room 222.

We have a guest speaker booked who will share her story. Tara was a college student when she got pregnant. Even though she had several options, she decided to keep her baby. Come hear about what got her through the pregnancy and school. We can learn from Tara what pregnant and parenting students on campus need from us. We are here to give them the support and resources they need to continue their pregnancy and stay in school! After she speaks, there will be a short question and answer opportunity.

We also have an amazing update on how many pregnancy tests and resource booklets we have distributed around campus. You won't want to miss that and the update on how Cupcakes for Life went.

Please come check out the meeting, spread the word and bring friends!! Anyone who has a heart for the unborn, for pregnant women, for parents or for those in need, this organization is for you.
